Back home I used to think everyone knew Sri Lanka.
That if I said I am a Sri Lankan, people would understand.
Then I moved abroad and reality hit me. Some people didnt even know where Sri Lanka was.
Some asked if it was a part of India, or if I was from Kerala. That changed me.
I made it my mission to educate people about my country. Every new person I met, I told them I was Sri Lankan. I shared a little about our culture, our history, our values.
Over the past three years, I’ve spoken to more than 400 people like this. Some even told me I was the first Sri Lankan they’d ever met. But I knew I couldn’t keep doing this one conversation at a time forever.
This is why Ceysaga was born.
Instead of talking about Sri Lanka by myself, I wanted everyone to be part of this mission. I’ve been in fashion my whole life, here in Canada as well, so I thought it made sense to use fashion for this mission.
This is how Ceysaga was born
If you’ve ever felt this too, come with us. We’re on a mission to build a bridge connecting the world and Sri Lanka.
